So I met my RE for the first time a few weeks ago. Among other things we talked about, she mentioned that she doesn't test for progesterone levels, which is completely opposite as to my gyn's approach. She just wants to monitor me with ultrasounds on day 3 of my cycles, while taking clomid.?Obviously the RE is more experienced with infertility than a gyn, but I'm wondering how will she know if I'm ovulating??Any other RE's have a similar approach? ??
Re: Does your RE test progesterone levels?
My RE does not check progesterone either. One I normally ovulate on my own and two she gives me a trigger shot that almost guarantees release of follicles. Up until that point I am monitored to check E2 levels and she can judge when I am ready to release a mature egg from that.
Not sure why she just wants an ultra sound on day three though? Usually you do not even start clomid until after that. So I would question that. You do need to know how you are reacting to the clomid and iff you are producing follicles. Usually my RE had me come in on cd3 to check for cysts and if everything was okay I was given the green light to start stimming. Then I would go in for another check after that to see how I was responding.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I've seen 2 REs. ?Both regularly test p4 levels to confirm O.
Is your RE only monitoring you on cd3? ?Will she monitor at any other point to verify that you're properly responding/not over-responding? ?
?
Yes, mine does... I'm going in tomorrow for it, actually - 5dp/iui...to make sure they are high enough- if not they put you on progesterone suppositories (this happened to me last cycle).
I get tested every 2 days until afer IUI ~ then it's the 5th day and then Pregnsancy test. They always put me on progedsterone - either Prometrium or Crinone.
If your RE isn't testing - ask them why and tell them you'd like them to be more pro-active. Some of the RE's out there are just in it for the money.
Hi Ladies- Sorry I disappeared last night...got caught up watching Lost!
Thanks for your feedback, I'll definitely keep these things in mind and ask more questions when I go back at the end of the month. I need to keep a running list of questions, because when I get in the office I tend to forget things. Anyways...Happy Friday everyone!!!
