February 2011 Moms

This is Despicable

https://consumerist.com/2011/03/price-of-premature-birth-preventing-drug-goes-from-10-to-1500-per-dose.html

Price of progesterone skyrocketing? Are rich babies or babies with insured mommies suddenly better than poor/uninsured babies? Thankfully I did not need progesterone, but I know some of our Feb Mommies did, and it may have saved their babies. $1500 a pop is not too much to spend to keep your child, sure, but you have to HAVE that much in order to be willing to spend it.  This just makes me want to punch someone in the face.

  • I was a progesterone mommy...had to take it starting at 4 weeks pregnant all the way until 12 weeks - and had to take 4 pills a DAY. It was not the greatest experience but now that my little man is here, it was worth every minute. This is ridiculous.

You realize this doesn't apply to things like Prometrium, right? This is a different form of progesterone.

Doesn't make it any better that they are doing this- I love how they attempt to justify the cost by saying that $1500 is cheaper than the NICU stay would be.

I didn't, mostly because I don't know much about the subject as a whole; I was blessed this pregnancy. Hopefully there are affordable options.
