I have been working out 4 to 5 times a week for about 6 years which includes lifting weights and about 45- hour of cardio every time I go to the gym, usually I run. During the 2ww for my first IUI I continued activity as normal because my RE said it was fine.
Fast forward to 2ww #2, I listened to the morons who told me I was probably "killing" the baby by running. I know, it sounds stupid but I thought I would continue with cardio but keep my heartrate down, so I didn't run at all.
My question is, what do you ladies think about running and exercise and treatments?
Re: exercise
My RE was fine with me working out as normal while on Clomid.
Once I switched to injects they told me I had to tone it down quite a bit...only really because of the increased size of the ovaries and possible complications because of that.
Think about all of the people who don't know they are pregnant for a few weeks..many of them don't change any of their habits, exercising included.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
When I did my IUI cycles I continued to work out as normal. When you do IVF they tell you not to work out after the embryo transfer. I think it is fine to work out...maybe ride the bike instead. Like Madelyn said, once you switch to injectables they do tell you to slow it down because your ovaries become inflamed and you can hurt them by running. Good luck!!
The first RE is was with told me to stop all aerobic exercise. I used to run Marathons and a typical week consisted of running 20 miles. I stopped all aerobic exercise back on April of 2010. I don't have a baby and I am 12lbs heavier than I was 11 months ago.
I have two girlfriends who were much more physically active than I was (they did Triathlons) who got pregnant while training. Both of them ran full Marathons in the first Trimester and they delivered healthy babies (Naturally-no drugs). One did a half-marathon 2 months after giving birth.

This topic is an ongoing drama for me. During IUI cycles, I was told that "all activities" were fine. Post ET, however, my instructions warn against "mountain climbing, horseback riding, running/jogging, or aerobics" until the beta. I'm not sure I'm clear on what the difference is between implantation in either cycle.
I rely on exercise to calm me down and improve my moods, especially at times when I'm not supposed to drink alcohol and am at my all-time heaviest thanks to stressful holidays capped off by back-to back cycles Therefor, though I toned it down last IVF 2ww (easy to do since I got sick w/ a bladder infection during that time) and plan to for my upcoming FET 2ww, I will work out during the 2ww, even though DH gets mad when I do. I honestly don't believe moderate exercise could really prevent implantation.
Good luck to you!
