NBR: Rec your Flat Iron

I need a new flat iron, my current one sucks. It's a Conair that is really wide and doesn't get very hot (at least anymore...).

Any suggestions? I'd prefer not to spend and arm & a leg on one, but I'm open to all recommendations.

  • I am partial to my Chi (I have the larger one). It is expensive, however I've had mine for over 2 years and it's still going strong. I was purchasing the less expensive ones, and burning them out after 3-6 months so it was worth it in the long run to invest in a good one.

Ditto this exactly. I heart my chi!

  • Haha, me 5 :) IMO the Chi is worth it, it straightens my hair SO much quicker & better than the cheapie flat irons I had before. I've had mine for 2.5 years now & expect several more out of it.
  • So do you all just have 1-in Chi or what? I'm unfamiliar.

I haven't really looked at those and I'm pretty sure DH is going to die when he sees how much it costs...

  • I have an Ion.  My mom got it for me at Sally's and it cost $99.  I've used it for probably 7+ years now with no problems.  It's not not wide, but does the job.  LOVE IT.

You can find it at Sam's, Ulta, etc. for $99.

  • I have the one VC pictured. I spent well over $100 on irons from Target over a 3 year period and my $99 Chi has lasted me 3 years already (maybe 4 now, can't remember) and I LOVE it. I have dropped that thing a million times and it's still working like a charm. I got mine off Amazon on sale and only paid $75 or $80 I think.

  • I have a "hot tools" brand flat iron from Ulta.  My mom bought it for me for my birthday and I LOVE IT.  She paid 70 dollars for it.
  • I just ordered a Chi from Kohls.com...if you have a CC they have 30% off and free shipping...so comes out to about $70

I have the same one as this and I've had it for a very long time.  5 or 6 years maybe?  It was right when DH and I met and I got the soccer mom hair cut from hell and went to a different Mitchell's location to get it fixed and broke down and bought this one to control the "fixed" haircut.  When my hair actually doesn't go in a bun, I use it religiously.

Ugh! I had this & it expired yesterday. Bummer :(

  • I have had my Chi for a few years now and it is still going strong. I would also consider looking on Amazon.
