Freak show

As you know we haven't taken the babies out much.  In the last few weekends we have started venturing out and O M G why are twins such a freak show??  Good grief people it's 2 babies not 10.  Don't touch, don't comment, don't gasp.  Just leave my kids alone.

Calm down America.....twins are way more common than you realize.

:)

And a lovely morning to all of my MoMs.  It's bedtime for me!

Enjoy your rest.  It's rainy and dark here and all I want to do is curl up in bed! Sleep  I can't imagine working night shifts like you when I feel like I'm sleepy all the time!

Happy sleeping and good to hear from you.

  • Morning! Or rather, Good night!

We take the boys out a lot and yeah, I'm tired of feeling like a circus sideshow freak too. I'm a bit of a *** sometimes and just keep walking with the stroller if people try to talk to us. I ignore questions outright. Most of the time people are just curious, but we're busy people too and I hate being in Walmart for any extended period. Stick out tongue Sometimes I like answering questions, but most of the time, we just want to be left alone.

  • ha ha!

it's funny, though, when i just take two boys out, NO ONE comments. i don't think twins are super common here, but i only get comments with all three.

  • I know what you mean, and the type of questions/comments are crazy too. Dh hates being center of attn so he's really uncomfortable with it.
  • To this day I don't mind if people ask about the boys, unless I'm in a hurry. Then I just avert my eyes. If I obviously look rushed and people try to talk to me I feel irritated.

  • Haha, yup :)  Especially when they are both screaming.

You're on the wrong side of the lake, then!  On the rare occasions we have taken the babies out it's always ZOMG TWINS?!  Once we took them to Target and there was a set of triplets in there, too.  We were so glad they were there to take the focus off of us!

When we took them to Mardi Gras, I saw several other sets of twins.  We did get the super awesome comment (not to us, but we overheard it) "Hey, they have their own float!"

It seems I run into twin moms wherever I go, with or without babies.  I was in a consignment shop on Monday and noticed a lady buying two boy outfits and we started chatting.  She and I agreed that we talk to people all.the.time who have had twins but when we take our babies out in public, it's like the first time anyone has ever seen two babies in one place at the same time.

  • LOL, yeah and when you go out with just one it feels so unspecial!

  • DH took one baby to target the other day.  He came home exclaiming how odd it was to not be noticed!  He was all, "I had a baby and no one cared!!!  Then finally when I was about to leave someone said he was cute."

ha ha, i know! it's hard (for me, an unapologetic attention whore) to not say "HE'S A TRIPLET! There are two more at home just like him!"

  • I have to say, I'm not as concerned about managing the infant care at home as I am the infant care if I go in public... I mean, most bathrooms can't even accommodate a shopping cart, much less my hummer of a triplet stroller! And then the worry that I will NEVER be able to "just run in for___" (whatever that item may be!). I'll have to budget an extra half hour for every trip just for the load/unload time and the gawkers!

Haha, no it wasn't.  It was either GGB or GBB.  They had a Runabout triple stroller. (I only know this bc I googled triple stroller and found a pic).  It definitely screamed "triplets".

  • My goodness your LOs are adorable!

I couldn't agree more, though.  It's insane how much commotion 2 babies cause.  I met another MoM at the mall a few weeks ago and discovered that the only thing worse than one set of twins in 2 sets in one place.  You would have thought that the world imploded or something - people freaked.  I can only imagine how trip and quad mamas feel!

You know, I think I've seen them too! We were at the Fresh Market up there, and I saw an SUV with a Runabout attached to the back. I almost went up and talked to the person in the car, but I decided to be normal. :P

  • It's funny--we don't get a ton of comments. Maybe only one or two during a trip to Target. And, I love it. I think maybe we do'nt get a lot either b/c DS so much bigger than DD that people think they are just regular siblings (the thougth of that makes me sad) or b/c twins are pretty common here. Last week at the mall, I saw at least 10 other sets of twins during our 90 minutes there.
  • DH and I are probably 2 of the most introverted people on the planet. Then we had twins. Boy have we learned... It's funny once we were in the mall and I had gone into one store on the 2nd floor and left DH and the babies on the lower level (there was no elevator nearby). As I was coming down the escalator some random person was chatting with DH and I had to giggle.

Oh yeah, and I love just taking one out - nobody cares and therefore nobody bothers me. LOL
