I'm ready to go with the name Colin, but DH isn't sold on it yet. He mentioned Blake to me last night and I don't love it, but I definitely don't hate it...
I have cousins named Colton and Clayton, and they get called each others' names all.the.time. Carson and Colin will be just as much of a PITA, IMO. You will find yourself calling them the wrong names. They will probably be annoyed.

PLUS, what do you name DS#3? Caden?
Never!!! I am so sick of all the aden names, aside from the actual Aiden, and even that is over don! We are done after this little guy so I don't have to worry about it again. I understand the same letter same number of syllables though.
Both are good solid names! Colin is one we are seriously considering ourselves. I really like Blake tho, a good friend of mine has a son named that and he is a sweetheart.

I love Ryan, but DH vetoed that one as well. Someone said that they see Blake becoming more popular as a girls name, WDYT? Carson is already a name that people tend to use for both boys and girls..but if he's going ot be the only boy Blake in a see of girls I don't want to do that!

It's not registering on the SSA as on the top 1,000 for girls, but I see Blake becoming the next Ryan (boy names given to girls). I have seen a couple girl Blakes, but VERY hit and miss. Like, one in my college class and the other is my son's age.
I appreciate all the input. I've been posting this on PAL as well. I like getting perspectives from people I know and those I don't, so thanks for induldging my inability to make a decision!
Here are a few others that we tossed around, in no particular order...
Ashton...kind of trendy, but cute...
Elliot (call him Eli though-I'm not in love, but I think it's cute...I know people will suggest simply naming him Eli, but I just feel lik that's too short, if that makes any sense)...
Joel...I like it, but I don't think DH really does. Also his first and last name will end in L...

Ill be honest, I don't love the name Blake. I actually had a ballet teacher that was an alcoholic named Blake, and its hard to dis-associate, I guess. I think Colin and Carson are cute together! I love the name Elliot!

Like Blake! FWIW, I have several family members who work in the medical field and the pre-fix "col" is typically associated with well, GI stuff. My sister in particular cannot look at a "Col" name without thinking "GI."
I like Blake, and I think it goes nicely with Carson. I know a Blake in his 20s and he's the only person I know with this name. I also like Joel. If you want the nn Eli, how about Elijah or Elias? Or, like you say, you could just name him Eli, but that seems a little off-balance compared to Carson, maybe.

This.
I LOVE Blake, and it goes great with Carson!

It rounds out the top 3 on our list.
I love it, Dh likes it enough to go with it if I really want it.
But as of now we both like Ryan a tad bit better.
I agree Blake sounds charming

I agree with PP and would choose Blake over Colin for the "siblings names" reason. Muy confusing...
