I really, really love this name! My dear friend is named Rebekah and another sweet friend is named Rebekah. I have great associations with it. I love it.
I like it, but have too many associations with it to use it for a child. If you don't know any Rebeccas IRL, go for it. I happen to have two close friends named Rebecca.
I am a Rebecca. I was a Becky growing up- didn't much care for it. Swapped to Bekah as an adult and the change in nn and spelling suits me much better. (I prefer the spelling Rebekah- I think it feels a little more mature/older. But most of us I've met are content with cca.)
I run into other people named Rebecca occasionally but it's not terribly common. I shared a grade with three over my schooling career- one in elementary school, rarely ran into her. Two in high school. One nn'd Bobbie (the only time I've ever seen that nn with Rebecca) so it didn't even feel like we shared a name. And the other shared a middle name and last initial with me and was also blonde with long straight hair who participated in choir. We thought it was fun, actually. Almost like having a twin.
I think it's a very solid traditional name that's common enough that I don't have to correct pronunciation. I do clarify between the two traditional spellings but that's predominantly because I chose the alternative spelling of Bekah. It doesn't bother me when someone switches the spelling around.
It's a name that people don't feel obligated to shorten. There are common nicknames but I've never had to stop someone from shortening it if I introduced myself as Rebecca.

Beautiful. This is my sister's name (and spelling). I consider it no more "dated" than Elizabeth, Rachel or Katherine! I never have liked "becky" though.

Love it! It would be on my very short list if I didn't have an evil relative with the name. I don't think it's dated, I think it's one of those classic names.

I really like this name. I like that it's not overused and I consider it more of a classic name as well being a biblical name.
I really dislike the nn Becky, but Becca is ok as a nn if you have to use a nn.

I like it. Sweet, simple, pretty, classic.
I once knew a Rebecca who went by Bex.
Baby Name Popularity by State
I agree.
yep
As a Rebecca who goes by Becky I'm enlightened to know my nn is now offensive : )
I only go by Rebecca when I'm in trouble or signing something legal...I always felt it was too formal for me as I'm very laid back.
