update on my dad

He got through the surgery, although we only got to see him briefly last night.  He is still pretty out of it today due to the anesthesia and the pain meds.  It is kind of upsetting to sit with him and having him try to talk and stumble over words and not make much sense (content wise).  I am hoping that will start to clear up soon.

I expect he will be there for a few more days and then to a nursing home for rehab.  Hopefully, he will be able to come home in a week or two.

It is very hard to see and I'm so sorry you're going through this. My dad was once on some pretty strong pain meds after a knee replacement and nasty infection and once day I went to see him and he was telling me a story about how when the nurse hooked up his IV antibiotics, it wasn't hooked up right so it started leaking all over the place but it came out "so they hooked me up and then *bunch of mumbles* and then it was everywhere." I looked him and said "Huh?" he said "Well, I realized what I was going to say didn't make any sense but I couldn't stop talking. What I was going to say was when they hooked me up to the coke machine it started leaking but I knew that wasn't right!"

But I hope your dad clears up soon and he has some awesome therapists along the way!
