I am not pregnant or anything (phew), but when I was pg with DS I really liked the name Noemi for a girl. Our other girl name was Natalie (A "combination" of DH's great grandmothers' names Nettie (maternal) and Tillie(paternal)) in which we would nn her Alie. Just curious what you guys think!

Re: Noemi
I've only seen it spelled Naomi before and I absolutely hate the name. One of my most hated actually.
Yeah and there's this great website I found when I was pg where ppl with the name would write feedback about how they felt about being named whatever. And two or three of the women said ppl would say, "No Emmy, no Grammy." Totally stupid, but made me stop and think. I agree though, it's adorable!
Haha, I guess this answers the question as to whether ppl would confuse it with Noami! No, it's No-emmy. A sweet little girl adopted from China was named Noemi in my mom's preschool class--that's where I first heard it.
It is a legit variation of Naomi. I think Italian and/or Spanish? Anyway I love them both!

Definitely used in Spanish. Can't say whether this is the version used in other Romance languages, though. I know Noemis from Cuba and Puerto Rico, but I also know an Irish one.
I think Noemi is beautiful.
I know a Polish Noemi ? go figure.

I know a Spanish Noem?, and a French No?mie. No?mi and Noemi are on the list of names accepted by Portugal, too.
I think it's pretty, and I prefer it to Naomi. My first brush with it was as No?mie, so that's my favourite version, but I think all of them are pretty.
