I had bought a travel humidifier for $44 on Amazon in Jan for our snowboarding trip that we ended up not going to b/c LO was sick...so I haven't had a chance to use it yet...but then I found one on clearance (from $40 to $3!!!! because it's a display unit) at BedBathBeyond AND I was able to use 20% coupon on top of that (haha, for a few more cents off). I tested it at home and it worked great. It was such a steal but I was already past the date for returns for Amazon (this was not a baby item), but I just called them right now and they're making an exception for me to return it and not only that, they gave me the label for returning it for free!! Wow, that's good customer service!
So since we're all about sharing info/experiences/etc on this board, I thought of this poll: Which stores have you had the best/worst customer service experiences at?
Re: Poll: Customer Service
I'll go first
BEST: Amazon, Netflix (too bad Amazon is now competing against Netflix now...I want them both to do so well!)
WORST: Chase
Agree -- Amazon is fantastic! And Costco is amazing as well. We are extremely loyal to Costco for that reason alone.
The worst lately has been Magazines.com. Never again giving them a cent of my money or a second of my time. The "deals" are just not worth it.
I also dislike the Gap's new return policies -- too short a time to return (I rarely go to the mall), and they start the countdown from the ship date. Grrr.
The Hawaiian Airlines Visa was also a total disappointment.
Good post!
BEST
Thinkgeek - I bought some stuff for the boys from them, and a UPS employee stole the stuff out of the package en route. Thinkgeek cheerfully and instantly replaced the toys and were awesome about the whole thing. UPS...not so much.
WORST
See above - UPS. When I told them what happened, they basically just told me, "Eh, sucks to be you!" Grrrr......
best: definitely Amazon or Costco as well.
worst: AMERICAN EXPRESS. ughhh. I've tried to unsuccessfully change my name on 3 of my accounts THREE times. first it was my entire name was too long (well, you freakin' asked for my legal name), next it was my first name was too long (umm, all 3 of my current cards have my full first name) and THEN it was "your first initial, middle initial and last name will not work." whaaaaat?! it's been 4+ months and I STILL don't have my name changed on those cards
of course, everytime I call it's "oh, we can't do that by phone. you have to make a request in writing." !!
sorry, that was more of a vent than I intended. good question, though
I can't think of a Best right now, but
worst: Verizon (land line - not wireless). HORRID!
Oh yes, I forgot about Costco
LOVE Costco!
This! And I hate how you have to have a freaking shipping slip and they can't return it if you just use the email receipt (except for store credit, which you get in the MAIL several weeks). My question is, why not?!? and if store credit, why can't they just give it to me right there and then?!?
BEST: Amazon.com and T-Mobile. I also love the service from Bank of Oklahoma.
WORST: American Airlines, Bank of America and Wells Fargo
TTC/PG Blog | Mommy Blog
Best: I've had Shutterfly & SnapFish re-send or offer to re-send items at no charge.
Worst: Discover
when I changed my name I found that most CC companies required the request in writing, along with a copy of my marriage cert.
I still don't know why they are saying they can't do it b/c your name is too long though. that's ridiculous.

Best: amazon, diapers.com, AmEx (I love that they extend warranties on products purchased w/their card, they've always ruled in our favor w/disputes, no questions asked), kohl's (i love their no fuss return policy - even w/o a receipt!).... and if we are including small businesses I think Thirsties and Abby's Lane have awesome customer service too
Worst: I can't think of any right now!

Best - I too have had great luck with Amazon. Of course Nordstrom has the notoriously lenient return policy (been on the other end of that too when I worked there and was expected to curtiously return used under garments!). Costco is awesome.
Janie and Jack - I don't shop there but MIL does and ships it to J and they always package everything so beautifully. Also, if she shops at other stores the at the mall the same day they will also pack that up for her too. Much easier than MIL going to the post office.
I have great luck at small local shops too (a bra shop for nursing bras, cloth diaper store, etc.)
worst - comcast cable/internet.
the BoA one? that is our primary card and we like it/have never had an issue. have traveled on miles 3 times with no problem - it's a nice treat and it easy for us to say we "have" to go to HI (rather than use it to visit family, haha) even though that isn't true.
A majority of my CC companies allowed me to do it online (through my online account, and I just sent a PDF of my marriage certificate), so that was easy. With AmEx, I have to wait for them to send me a Name Change Authorization form via snail mail! Then I snail mail it back. Then they take 3-4 weeks to tell me something is wrong with my name. Rinse, repeat. Poop.
