Used shoe question

I want to get Mason a pair of rain boots for this fall/winter and was thinking of checking ebay.  Would it be gross to wear used shoes? Is their something I can do to de-yucky the inside?  Or should I just get new, it just seems like a waste for him wearing them a couple times.

Re: Used shoe question

  • I've bought shoes on CL.  Granted they were used only on a toddler that couldn't walk yet, so they were in perfect condition.  But it's a great way to get shoes for cheap!  (the ones I got were a $40 pair of Pedoodles for $15)

BTW.... I was right behind you today!  I was coming up 4th from Craft Mart and you were turning into your neighborhood.  I was checking to make sure it was you as you were turning, so I didn't honk.  ;)

  • It is not recommended to get used shoes for toddlers because of how the shoe molded to the foot of the previous owner. Then when your toddler wears them it can affect his walk or feet (with the trickle effect to his knees and hips).

That said, rain boots usually have a very flat sole inside, so it might not make a difference.

Target usually carries rain boots pretty cheap, and once ds got them that was all he wanted to wear. I am sure it had something with being able to put them on by himself.

  • I got DD some boots at Walmart for cheap last year (Walmart is not so bad down in Lacey). I was at Fred Meyer today and they had rain boots for buy one get one half off.

  • I bought Jack's rain boots a few weeks ago at Fred Meyer for $12.  I wouldn't buy them used when you can find them so cheap all over.  Target sells them too.
