I wouldn't have known how to pronounce it if you wouldn't have told me. I'm still a little confused...is it MAL-in? Or mal-IN? If you wouldn't have said it sounds like Pal, I would've pronounced it Muh-LYNN.
Married 5/31/08 * TTC#1 9/09 - 2/11 after anovulatory diagnosis and TTC for 1 1/2yrs with several medicated cycles and one chemical pregnancy, we have our first bundle of joy!

I don't take one single minute for granted.
I don't like it. Mostly because the prefix mal- means 'bad'. Immediately, I have a bad impression due to that. Have you heard of the name Maren? I kinda like that.

I'm not loving it. Or even liking it. The fact that the morpheme "mal" means "bad" really turns me off, too. If it's a real name, it can't possibly mean something good.
Also I think it's heavily subjected to mispronunciation, because the pronunciation you gave us is far from intuitive (I assumed it rhymed with Palin).
ETA: If it supposed to sound like M'Lynn (Sally Field's character in Steel Magnolias), I'd spell it the way the playwright did.
It is a Swedish name - we're Swedish. I'm not in love with it, but H LOVES it. It is also derived from the name Malina which means "peace" in Hawaiian and I do like the idea of that...
Yes - there is an actress with the name Malin. She was in 27 Dresses and Couple's Retreat.
Very trendy going with the put anythin with lyn craze. Also, if you have to explain how to pronounce it, it sets your child up for years of correction. In other words... NMS.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!

NMS. I think people would try to pronounce it like Palin "May-lin"
This. Looks like "Palin" to me.

I would never have pronounced it the way you specify. I know an adult named Malinn (muh-lynn) and I've always thought her name is very pretty on her.

It's ok. I think that it would be mis-pronounced a lot.
