Warner is 33 lbs (probably more now) and over 36" tall and while he was still pretty happy RF, actually getting him into the seat was becoming SUCH a challenge.
For the past few weeks every time he would get into the seat he would lock his legs straight, pushing against the back of the seat so we couldn't put the straps on him. We'd try to bend his legs without hurting him and hold him down long enough to get his arms through the strap, but one false move and he'd slip out and pop back up again. Every car trip (even just to run to the grocery store and back) started off as a battle and it was making both DH and I insane.
Granted, the RF weight limit was only 35 lbs, so it's not like it would have been too much longer anyway.
But I'm sad...he seems like such a big guy now and is that much less safe :-(
(even though I know he's still pretty safe...)
Re: s/o RF--we turned him around :-(
Awww, he's growing up into a little man. You should feel good that you kept him rear facing for so long.
I've been contemplating when we'll turn DD around and I know it will be bitter sweet for me when we do the transition. When we get our mini van, I'm going to have to see how the rear facing works and whether DD will be able to climb into the car set on her own while it's rear facing. As it is now, I struggle with lifting her into her car seat and I know that after the c-section, that I won't be able to lift her. So, we may be turning her around when DD #2 is born but we shall see.
