Cloth Diapering

Ugh. Red bum with BG's. Help?

My LO has been getting areas of redness for the last 1-2 weeks.  They look like amonia burns but my BG's don't smell before or after a diaper change.  They don't repell either.  I did strip about 3 weeks ago due to what I call "wet dog" smell on some of them.  This took care of it.  I've increased her absorbancy, thinking there was too much moisture next to her skin without much luck.  I stopped using her AIO smalls as they seemed to be worse than the pockets.  This morning she woke up and her entire bum was red.  No splotches, bumps or rashiness.  It looked like a sunburn.  I've been working on my fitteds (as she does better with these with a fleece liner) but I don't have enough to use them full time.

All my BG's, a few blueberries, and inserts (microfiber and natural fibers) are soaking in funk rock and I'll run them through several rinses today.

Any suggestions?  Could this slowly be an allergy that is in the works? How would I know?

  • Suedecloth sensitivity? What happens if you use a fleece liner?

  • My daughter has a suedecloth sensitivity - her entire diaper area would be red, no blisters, no dots, just red.  The redness would disappear if we were out of the BGs for 1-2 changes.  I would try a different diaper for awhile and see if that helps, if so, you know its a sensitivity.
