2nd Trimester

Are you, have you put your bedding set on the registry?

I did, but feel funny, and I guess guilty. Like please decorate my baby's room. lol Are you putting it on? I thought we could get a discount with the completion coupon if nobody purchases. I could also put it on after, because I moved my event date up a few weeks. Thoughts? What are you ladies going to do? Also, the set really can't be used until he's a toddler right? I figure I am just going to hang the blanket on the wall, and buying a breathable bumper seperate anyway. I probably will never use the diaper stacker, and bumper. I love the design, but they do not sell seperates. I love the design, but its only available at BRU for $189.

Re: Are you, have you put your bedding set on the registry?

  • Wondering if its worth it or should I just get the valences, hamper, and other decor? Also, if it's looks funny to put on registry. Thanks!

  • I don't plan to because I find they are expensive and I won't use most of the items that the sets give you. Since you plan to put the blanket on the wall, then it may be worth it for you.

  • I'm not buying a full bedding set, but I did put crib sheets on my registry.

  • DH gave me the set I loved for Christmas, so I put it on the registry and marked it as purchased.  I figure that way people that like to buy off registry could see our color scheme.   My set (bananafish bailey) was new in December and already being discontinued, so keep that in mind if you are absolutely in love with one right now.

  • We bought the bedding set but registered for the additional pieces.

  • We had it on the registry and were going to wait for the shower to see if anyone bought it...I wouldn't have minded.  But it just got discontinued so DH and I scrambled to buy all the pieces last week before they went out of stock.

  • I plan to...less money out of our pocket. If no one gets it for us, that's fine...we will still get the discount with Babies R Us.

    It's worth a shot!

  • With DD we didn't because it was PBK and we did not register there. We did have a lot of people ask so they could buy things that would coordinate with it so it would have been a good idea to include a reference to it in the notes. If it were available at one of the stores we registered at I would have included it though, even if I fulfilled the bedding myself. People like to see it.
  • We aren't but only because we won't be telling anyone the gender until our Shower, and I do want a gender specific nursery.  However, I did have to ask my mother not to buy a bedding set because I explained that I wanted to decorate the nursery myself.... she had just found a "really good deal" but... I'm holding out on that, I really do want to do that just me and DH.

I might not do a full set since I've been reading about the pieces you don't need-  but I did put two gender neutral crib sheets on my registry, since regardless I will need "backups"!

    This.

Even if you haven't actually purchased it yet, mark it as bought. People really like to see what you've chosen. Especially if they want to buy or make you something not on your registry. It gives them a great idea of colors and themes.

  • I didn't with DD since it is was pricey and I didn't want to have items in that price range on my registry. I just bought it myself. But that was just my preference. Lots of my friends and family do and I have no problem with it. In fact it's a good "group gift".

ETA: Also I bought it from a specialty web site and not a store, so it was a moot point anyway.

  • I fell in love with a comforter from Boppy and bought that to help get the scheme of the nursery but put the sheets, bedskirt ect on our registry. I may also put the comforter on there also and if we get it I will just return the extra one.

  • I put our bedding set on our registry. My friends always put theirs on, as well. I'm big into decorating so I always buy decor off their registry. We have always used his entire set. During the day we draped his comforter over the front of the crib and at night we just took it out. Now, he sleeps with it. We used the bumpers, the valances, and the diaper stacker we stored receiving blankets in. If you use what's in the set, it's worth it. I think it makes the nursery look complete so I'm glad I have it. I love buying friends pieces of their set, as well. If you want it, put it on the registry!
  • We are not getting a full bedding set, but did register for some crib sheets, a bumper and changing pad covers from PBK. We already purchased curtains and a crib skirt.

  • I put everything I want on the registry only because even if I didn't get them as gifts I want to buy them. It's like an easy shopping list. I even put things on there that I've been buying a little at a time lol.

  • My sister has a one year old and told me not to buy a bedding set. She said the only thing you really need are sheets. She uses mostly small blankets and not a big quilt. But if you want the bedding set, I definately wouldn't feel bad about putting it on your registry, I think it's a great idea for the registry.

  • It's on there, but mostly just for my reference and/or a completion discount.

  • We have a bedding set picked out if we are having a boy... there are so many girl sets that I just can't choose! I have told a couple people (bff, sil) about the set and they know what it is so I may end up getting it as they like to go in on gifts together and my big stuff (crib, pnp, travel system) have already been purchased by mil and mom.  In my area I think it is a staple to have the bedding set on the registry if it hasn't been purchased yet.

  • I put mine on the registry but it's not there anymore because my MIL purchased it for us. Also, if you don't want everything that comes in the set, look online and see if you can find it sold separately other places. We found that ours was at JCPenney also and it was cheaper and the items in the set were sold separately. Also you can check ebay. :)
