1st Trimester

I have a question.... Some TMI

Is it normal to be crampy this early? I am 5 weeks today. I went to work and it got worse.I work at WalMart as a cashier.  My back also started to hurt. I read when your back hurts/cramps it could be onset of a miscarriage. I have no bleeding.

Also I am constipated. Does that add to the being crampy?  AND I am "leaking" alot. I freak out and think I am bleeding. Is that normal?

If you couldn't tell this is my first pregnancy.

Re: I have a question.... Some TMI

  • Some cramping is normal... I think they say "constant and accompanied with bleeding" is when its a sign of a miscarriage.

And I also get increased discharge after pregnancy... just wait until later in pregnancy, things get more gross ;-)

  • Cramping is normal and it'll probably last for a few weeks yet.

Standing for long periods of time probably doesn't help.

Increased vaginal discharge and moisture is also common. Try a pantyliner. :)

  • Last summer I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks, and for the 3 weeks before i had sometimes sharp "poopy cramps" on and off every day for 3 weeks before i actually miscarried, i dont know if it was related, but i found that days where i drank lots of water it wasnt as bad.

I am pregnant again and am 9 weeks, we have seen an ultrasoud and saw the heartbeat and so far so good :) and i havnt had hardly any except when im feeling constipated, i got really sick and wasnt drinking enough water for a few days and got the cramping, but it seems to be related to constipation, so my advice it to keep water with you at all times and sip all day!

the doctor told me that if it is really sharp and constant then you should call the doctor, or if its accompined by bleeding that is worse than your period then it may be a miscarriages, otherwise some cramps and discomforts are normal! (things are begining to streach in there allready)

also my doctor is having me take extra progesterone whic can make you discharge a little more, so that could just be a sign that your hormones are doing what its supposed to do! :)

Try not to worry too much! (its hard not to) drink water and take it easy as much as you can!

  • Every woman is different, and every pregnancy is different.  Cramping is normal as your uterus expands.  Standing up will not cause a miscarriage.  If the cramping is severe, call your doctor.  If there is bleeding, call your doctor.  You might be dehydrated if you are constipated, and while pregnant it's a big deal to drink enough water.  Oh, and the wet panties is totally normal as your body is producing a TON of hormones right now.  When I had my daughter I would go through several pantyliners a day!

    Best wishes.

  • I remember last year when I was pregnant not long after I found out I had immense cramps so bad I couldn't stand it. I thought I was going to explode from both sides and I had diarrhea too. I was so weak and in so much pain my DF and SIL didn't know what to do for me. It lasted a very long night. I was terrified something was wrong with me.

I also had a lot of cramping, but everything was fine with baby and he turns 1 next month. :) Cramping is normal.

Constipation and "leaking" are also both very common.

  • I had cramping and constipation the first 6 weeks.
  • I had a lot of cramping leading up to BFP through about 5 1/2-6 weeks.

Lots of discharge is totally normal, too.

  • I had every single symptom you are describing. It's uncomfortable and painful at times, but hang in there. Also I have been to the Dr. and had an u/s and my little munchkin has a wonderful healthy heartbeat and the whole 9 yards. So relax, it's nothing to worry about!
  • I am so glad I just read this post.  I have been having some cramping on my left side and was freaking out a little bit.  This too is my 1st time so I am not sure what is supposed to be normal and what should throw up some red flags.  I can't wait until April 1 because it will be my 1st u/s.
