Baby Showers

Baby Shower this weekend, need gift ideas please!

I have a baby shower to attend this weekend at work.  My manager is coordinating it for another manager who I have only worked with once.  I don't know her very well, and I don't know anything about her pregnancy other than shes due next month, my manager wants this to be a really big thing and wants all of us there.  any ideas for a gift that would be thoughtful but generic?

    Diapers or some books?

  • The Putomayo CDs are awesome! Maybe one of those, I know they have a sleepytime CD and some faster paced ones as well.  They are really nice background music and aren't annoying like some kids' music can be.

  • I would try to see if she has a registry. Just type her name into whatever sites you can think of, Babies R Us, Target, Kohls, etc. If you can't find anything I'd suggest diapers, a bath set (I know Babies R Us has a Johnson's set that has shampoo, lotion, diaper cream, etc for about ten dollars), a pack of plain onesies, pacifiers, etc. Those are all things that she'd need no matter what and that you probably couldn't go wrong with. I would add a gift receipt in just to be safe. Then if she's one of those people who only want to use a specific kind of diaper or has to have organic wash she can return things for what she wants.

  • For someone like this, I would definitely find a registry and just pick a few small basic items. No need to get fancy.

You could always do a basket of "essentials"... nail clippers, washcloths, bottle brush, etc.
  • If I don't know where someone is registered, I always check Target and BRU.  If I can't find one there, then I get diapers or books and include a gift receipt.
  • Another idea is a gift card or cards for a local restaurant for take-out or delivery.
