Infertility Veterans

xp: IVF is a no go :(

I had my follow up appointment today. Needless to say, it didn't go so well. Basically I am no longer a candidate for IVF and at some point we need to consider donor egg or donor embryo. I haven't talked to DH about this yet because he is at work right now.

So the next step in the mean time is to be on bcp's this month and then I will start clomid and bravelle again to do another IUI. I'm not sure if this is what I want to do yet either, but I wouldn't need to buy any more meds since I have 3 boxes of bravelle left over from last cycle. I did ask if I received a good response this cycle, if we could convert to IVF if I have too many follies for IUI. He said yes, but he didn't seem to confident that would happen since I've had such crappy response in past cycles.

I'm thinking it might be time for a second opinion. Does anyone know anything about RGI? It is the other RE in Columbus, OH. I might even have to take the trip to Cinci to check out that one too.

I was just so heart broken, that I didn't even ask about acupuncture or anything else I went in there to ask.  If you have low AMH, what protocol were you on?  Did you take any supplements, or do acupuncture?  Did anything improve your response to stims?

I'm really sorry. You might want to post on SAIF - there are a surprising number of mamas over there who had really low ovarian reserve and yet managed to have success with IVF. If you're not ready to give up on your eggs yet, don't.  If you do decide to pursue DE, I'd be happy to chat with you about that - but only when you are ready.

  • I would definitely get a second opinion!  Unfortunately I don't know anything about REs in the Columbus area, but there are quite a few Columbus ladies here so hopefully some of them pop in!  I'm so sorry sweetie!  Good luck and ((hugs))

  • Would you be willing to consider CCRM in Denver, CO or Cornell in NY? They have great success with DOR/AMA. They are also very pricey, but maybe it's worth checking them out. You can set up a phone consult and take it from there.

  • I'm so sorry!  I would definitely get a second opinion before moving on.... I agree with Mikeandangie -- Cornell and CCRM have great success with DOR/AMA.  HUGS!  I know this new information has to be quite a blow.

  • I am so sorry. The DE conversation is so hard. Take time and really process. Get a second or third opinion. The only protocols that I was on were long lupron and antagonist. The 3rd IVF with long lupron and acupuncture was the only IVF with OE that wasn't cancelled before ET and we ended up with one egg at that one. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

    Good luck sweetie!
