Cloth Diapering

help me use my washer

I've never used the "soak" option on it before. It came with our apartment and is old (not sure how old) it's a Maytag, top loader.  When you do a cold soak, then a hot wash with cold rinse, do you drain the water out from the rinse before you start the hot/cold cycle? My washer doesn't do this automatically, but I'm guessing I have to, right?

Re: help me use my washer

  • I would just do a cold wash and hot wash and skip the soak with a top loader.  I have to do a soak with my front loading washing machine, my sister with a top loader does not.
  • With my top loader, to soak, I just left the lid open.  It would fill with water but not move to the next step until I shut the lid.
