NBR: take a vote on my idiot move of the day

I left a bag of groceries from Trader Joes in my car after lunch instead of bringing it in and putting it in the fridge as I had intended to do.  I just remembered it and ran outside to get it and put it away.  Unfortunately, it was there for 2 hours.  My car is warm, but not hot.  I am most concerned about a pack of meat and a small carton of heavy cream.  They were in a paper bag along with a bag of frozen corn so there was something cold with them.

  • This is where I call my mother. Because I, like you, have no idea. I would probably throw them out to be on the safe side, OR return them to TJ's. They take back EVERYTHING. And I mean EVERYTHING. Can you make a trip back on the way home?

  • honestly, what i'd do depends on how warm the food inside was.....  i probably wouldn't use the cream though.  the corn i think would be fine, i mean it's just corn!  the meat might be okay if it wasn't "warm" feeling, but more like room temp feeling.....  but i'd cook it asap.

though honestly anything that's remotely not cold, i'd probably end up throwing everything but the corn out. :-(

  • I think it's all fine. It's not hot outside today. I've had to do this with food in my car while running errands during preschool and we've never had any issues.
  • Personally, I wouldn't risk it, but I'm weird about stuff like that. It's probably fine, though. I'd see if TJ's would exchange it or something.
  • I think it would depend on how warm/cold the food felt.  But IDK, I think I'd be afraid to use it regardless :(
