Cloth Diapering

Noob question

I have some GroVia and a few different pockets, and all of them have leaked at least once (we've only been CDing for a couple of weeks). It has mostly happened when he's sitting up for longer periods of time, like in his highchair, and it seems to be mostly leaking out the legs. My questions is, does this seem like a fit issue, or do you think I need to wash them a few more times? They've all been washed and dried at least 4 or 5 times with detergent (Dropps). If it's more of a fit thing, do I just need to go tighter, or adjust the rise? I'm pretty clueless and also really frustrated at this point. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Noob question

  • I'd try adjusting the fit, and I'd also see if they're repelling. You can do that by pouring some water on the inner, and if it beads up, you'll want to strip.

  • Thanks! I'll play around with the fit. He's tall and skinny, so maybe I'm not going tight enough because I'm trying to be gentle. I'll have to find a good balance.

  • I'd try making it tighter around the waist....if it's good and snug and still loose around the legs, adjust the rise down.  HTH!

  • Thanks for all the suggestions. We've been playing around with the fit, and it still seems to only be a problem when he's sitting in a highchair or the car seat. I never let him go more than a couple of hours without changing him except over night and we've actually never had a leak at night. I changed him before lunch and put it on the middle rise and put it much tighter than I thought I should in the waist, and he still leaked out the legs just in the amount of time it took to eat lunch. Maybe this kind of diaper just doesn't work for us. Anyway, thanks for the help. I'll keep trying. I'm irritated, but I'm not ready to give up.
