so after 3 weeks since connor arrived..im finally writing about it =] he arrived february 18th! my due date was the 14th.
on the 17th i had my drs appt and was only 2 1/2 cm dilated..70-80% effaced. after being 2 cm for the 2 previous appts =[ so they stripped my membranes and said it could happen in the next day or so or maybe not at all. but they set me up to be induced on the 21st. i had braxton hicks for most of the day..but that was the extent of it. that evening i was sitting in our recliner and i just kept moving a lot. just uncomfortable for the most part..but no contractions. went to bed and woke up at 4:45 with contractions [woohoo!] i was trying to time them and they were probably coming every 7-10 min. i woke my mom up at 6 to tell her i was having contractions..felt bad for her considering she just fell asleep at 6 because she was worried i would go into labor in the middle of the night since she noticed i was uncomfortable. out of nowhere they started to come every 2 min. where the F were the every 5-7 min that the drs kept telling me about?! i got in the shower and had like 10 contractions just trying to wash my hair! i was texting my sister who lives 3 hours away..my moms texting my aunts..everyones saying to go in! i called the drs office right at 8 just to make sure [i reallyyy didnt want to be sent home] so they just said better to be safe then sorry to go in that way they can monitor me. finally got to the hospital about 8:30ish and when they checked me i was 4 cm already! yayy!! so they moved me to a birthing room..my contractions were getting pretty intense and they told me the options that i had. i knew i wanted an epidural--which the dr said was a good choice for me since im not a very big girl. i only weighed 137 when i delivered. and i measured small my whole pregnancy. i finally got some nubain which helped a lot take the edge off the contractions. when it started to wear off..they told me if i wanted to get the epidural that it would be a good time to get it since the anestheologist was going to be in between surgeries and since they had to pump the fluids through me. i agreed. they checked me and i was about 5 or 6 cm at this point. lemme tell you..this guy was RUDE AS HELL. i was beyond pissed. i was progressing so fast tho it was unreal. after he put the epidural in he had the nerve to tell me that next time i shouldnt wait so long to get it because of how far along i was. i was so upset because i didnt wait long. as soon as the nubain was wearing off thats when the nurse came in and told me if i wanted the epidural..then that was a good time. so i did. i have quite the attitude and quite the mouth on me..so normally i would have said a smart ass comment to him but i was in so much pain that i just started crying my eyes out. i was so mad that he said that. there was no reason to yell at me. at this point my water still didnt break. they wanted to break my water..but they were really nice and were waiting for my sister to get here since she was coming from 3 hours away. since i was progressing so fast i was freaking out that she wouldnt be able to make it and i really wanted her there. she finally got there at 2 pm and if they wouldve broken my water he wouldve been here by 2!
then it all started to go downhill after that. i started feeling a whole lot of pressure in my abdomen and my right leg was cramping up. from what i heard about what an epidural is supposed to do to your legs--mine def was NOT like that. it wore off after about an hour and i was in the worse pain ever. between my contractions coming every 1-2 min and the pain in my abdomen and leg it was horrible. i couldnt stop crying because there was no relief of the pain. it was constant. the nurse kept telling me that i had to relax and i was trying but damnit it hurt! the anestheologist had to come in and give me a 'top off' about 4 or 5 times because i was getting no relief. i was pushing that button any chance i got but nothing was working. at this point i was 9 cm and the dr told the anestheologist that he needed to give me another epidural because there was no way that he could deliver the baby with me in that state. he def didnt want to do it since it was so late and i wouldnt know when to push and what not. but he said he didnt care and that he needed to do it. not to mention the nurses that i had and the dr gave the anestheologist a bunch of crap for being so freakin rude to me about everything. finally got the second epidural and this one actually worked-well sort of. after 13 hours of labor and a suprisingly only 40 min of pushes. connor joseph made his way into the world! pretty good for this being my first baby =] he did have the cord wrapped around his neck. but they got that free right away. he was 7 lbs 2 oz 19 3/4 in and a head full of hair!!! he didnt want to cry when he first came out..just wanted to look around haha. when they put him on my chest he was so content. he just snuggled on me and stared. surprisingly the anestheologist came and checked on me to make sure i was ok..nobody knows why the first one didnt work. the second one luckily lasted long enough for him to be delivered..but wore off quickly after that.
anyways..things are great with my little man. he was a bit jaundice in the hospital. but that cleared up quickly. he is very mellow which makes me a happy mommy! he latched on right away at the hospital and since has had no problems breastfeeding-except when my milk came in and i was SUPER engorged. but since i pumped to get some relief..he is much better. well sorry that this is super long! hope you enjoy the pictures!! and yesss the first thing people say when they see him is OMG look at all that hair!! =] =]

Re: finallyyy..connor josephs birth story =] pip!! [long sorry]
Congrats! He is adorable!
I had the same experience with my epidural too...it was pretty awful! They gave me a direct shot to my cath and it only turned my legs completely numb I could feel everything where I shouldn't have felt it!
