I know "all done" and "more". What other signs should we do with our babies? I don't have a DVD or anything (yet). For now, I'm just teaching her. I saw another thread a couple days ago and a bumpie was talking about starting at 3 months. So here we goooooooooo.
Anyone else starting now? If so what signs do you know / are you doing?

Yeah I won't expect her to understand for a while, but it'll be good to get in the habit. I'm really excited! Did your niece learn from a DVD? Do you think it's necessary?

I thought it was more like 6-7 months too. Oh well, couldn't hurt. What book do you have?

I have a friend who teaches baby sign language and she started her daughter around 6 months. Obviously though, it's not going to hurt if you start early.
I have started teaching my husband eat, more, milk, all done, tired/sleepy, play, I'm pretty sure it's going to take him longer to learn than the baby.
We've watched Signing Time a few times with A. Wee Hands is another one that I'm thinking about buying. The Signing Time DVD teaches mom, dad, more, ball, eat, water, milk, cat, dog, fish, flower, shoes, want .. I think that's all of them. I read you can start at 3 months so we're going to be watching it more often now.
We have the Baby Signing Time DVD and it teaches drink, milk, water, juice, more, all done, hurt, types of common pets, family members, eat, cracker, cereal. We most often sign milk, eat, drink, more, all done, cat and dog throughout the day to him.
I don't really think a DVD is the best way to go about it. Babies learns by doing and having things done with them in context, so just by you doing the signs with them while going about your day will teach them. When you're feeding them, do the signs associated with that (milk, more, all done, thank you) and when they're playing or sleepy, you do those signs and when you're on a walk, you do signs for what you see (dog, tree, cloud, etc.)
ETA: I've taught babies sign language at child care centers (just simple signs like you're talking about) and we never used a DVD and they still picked it up just fine.
We're doing "eat," "milk," "mommy," "daddy," "cat," and "dog." I keep meaning to do "more" since its a useful one, but I keep forgetting.
We just started in the last couple weeks, so we don't remember to do them all the time, but we're trying to work them in any time we remember.
I haven't started with DD yet, although I did print off a chart with all of the basic baby signs at this website (I just did a google search to find it): https://smartbabysignlanguage.blogspot.com/search/label/baby
I didn't start baby signs with my son until he was 6 months old, and he first signed back around 9 months old. The first sign he used was "more", to tell me that he wanted me to play "this little piggy" with him again. It was awesome!
Thanks!
