Popular depends on the area. Take a look at break downs of the name based on where you live, because here, I know 3 Ninas on the playground who are all around DD's age. I would consider that name "popular" here, regardless of what SSA has to say.

That said, it's a lovely name.

I think it's very pretty. I would check out the SSA list for you area to see how popular it is, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's so hard to predict what names are going to go up in popularity anyway. You might as well pick something you really like.

Love it! I'm a teacher, and there are no Ninas in my school of 400 students... The only Nina I know now is 26... My great aunt was named Nina, but she is now deceased.
