6 weeks and spotting?

I'm 6 weeks today and no morning sickness so far! A little gaggy feeling in my throat every now and then. I am very excited BUT very nervous. Today I was cleaning out the closet of the room that will be our nursery : )  aand I had a cramp really low and to the right and felt like I started my period I went to use the rest room and when I wiped I had a long brown streak in my discharge. Should I call my doctor? I'm really scared.

  • brown means old blood so you're good.  a little pink tinge isn't a big deal either.  it's when you see fresh blood that you should start asking questions.

  • I would just rest and take it easy.. if it happens again I would call the doc in the morning..

  • Rest the remainder of the day if it is possible.  Call your doctor in the am just to let them know.  If you start to see red blood then I would say call the on-call doc or go to the ER.

  • I also had a little spotting right before I was 6 weeks along.  My advice is to just watch it, and if it happens again, i would just call your doc tomorrow morning just to make them aware of it. Leave it up to them if they need you to come in for some bloodwork to check things out.

I know it is scary, but it does happen....just try to relax today and drink plenty of water. Good Luck :)

  • It irritates me when people say brown blood is good or normal.  I don't mean to scare you, but my m/c started with brown spotting and light little cramps.  While plenty of women who spot go on to have normal healthy pregnancies, it could also indicate a problem so just monitor it.  If it turns red and heavier with cramping call your Dr. today, if not then I would wait until tomorrow to call.
  • I had the same at 6wks.  I called my dr. and had an u/s to make sure everything was ok.  If I were you, I'd call your dr. for peace of mind, but it is fairly common :0)

  • Call your doctor and let them know you have had spotting.  Hopefully it will be nothing to worry about (its common to spot in pg), but your doctor needs to be told about spotting...regardless of the color.

  • I would call your doctor just to be on the safe side.

But for me, I had a lot of spotting and the baby is just fine and I'm going to deliver this Friday.

  • I wanted to thank you all for your advice! I called my dr today and they said it's common. I go tomorrow for my first visit and I'm very excited and nervous!!! I pray all is well, but know that if I'm blessed this will make me being pregnant REAL. Excited but oh my goodness!! Good Luck to everyone here and thank you again for the kind words.
