Really sorry but a movement ?

I am really sorry to ask this because the million movement questions can get really annoying but I called the nurse on Thursday, they didn't call me back until Friday and I didn't have a chance to get back to them.

I know it's normal to have decreased movement but a few weeks ago I had a bit of movement then the other day I overdid it at work and running up and down the stairs with the dogs (it's how they get their exercise when it's raining and won't do it unless I do it with them) and the next day I had cramping then no more movement since then. I get maybe a hiccup a day but no kicks or anything. Would you be worried?

  • It's pretty normal to experience little to no movement sometimes before around 28 weeks.  Most docs won't have you kick count until then.  But if you are really worried, call the emergency line to put your mind at ease.  You may also want to try drinking something cold and sugary and lie down for half an hour or so - that may get your LO moving.

Thanks, I will call the doctor again on Monday. I have to go to a dog adoption event but I will lie down after. Maybe all the puppies will get him dancing again :) I used to feel the movement when I would lie down all the time but recently there is nothing even when I lie down.

  • I had the same question, I was sick last weekend and this past week my lo was really chilled out and would twitch and that'd be about it, when he'd usually move a lot throughout the day.  So when I went to the dr. and brought it up, b/c I know that it's too early to have regular movement, and wasn't sure if it was being sick or his "schedule" changing etc.  But she also said I was the only one who really knew this kiddo and for a piece of mind she hooked me up to the monitor for 20 min.  The first 10 he did his random twitchy thing.  Then they used this thing and "buzzed" him (just made more noise) and he went bonkers the rest of the day and since. :)

  • I'm glad that I'm not the only one experiencing this, I had a really stressful day and then the next day LO was really quiet, I don't know if I even noticed a movement. The next day it picked back up again. I'm keeping an eye on it, and per doctors orders (not for any reason) tracking kick counts starting at 28 weeks. But yes, I've gone from days of tons of activity to total silence for a while. It is not fun. =(

  • Trust your gut. That's all I can say. If you feel something may be wrong go in. It's not worth waiting and seeing. I had a really bad feeling after feeling no movement for a day or two so I pulled out my doppler and it kind of confirmed my feelings....I'd say if you can feel hiccups I'm sure everything is fine. Always better safe than sorry.

  • I went through the exact same thing last week.  Baby boy was super active on Saturday and silent on Sunday.  I called the doctor on Monday and they had me come in to do a stress test.  Baby was fine, just chilling out.  Scared the crap out of me so I understand how you are feeling.  I'm sure all is fine with your little one.

  • Thanks for all the replies. I drink a diet coke or 2 a day so I brought out the big guns, regular coke. I had one at the adoption event and brought one home to have before lying down. I am glad to hear that it is normal, I am going to wait until tomorrow to call because I really don't want to go to the ER, the movement has been really slow since before my last appointment and I heard the HB then so I know he is still in there but couldn't hurt to call tomorrow.

  • There can be certain days when movement maybe lesser. However I have noticed the baby becomes more active during nighttime or the following day. I do not think it is really anything to worry about. But, for your peace of mind I would suggest that you do go in to see a doctor. Smile

I wasn't worried for the first week or so but this has been for almost 2 weeks of much less movement and about 4 days of pretty much none. I hope the midwife can see me tomorrow.
