Cloth Diapering

Cloth Wipes

How many should we get? Can they be washed with the diapers? Also, any brand suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Cloth Wipes

  • There's a great cloth wipe FAQ here: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/48380458.aspx

I originally had 12, and found that not to be enough. I have about 30 now and it's a pretty good number for us. They are mostly all one layer wipes, so for poopy diapers I end up using 2-3.

They can be washed with diapers, yes. A whole extra loads just for wipes would be madness! haha

I know a lot of women just make their own simple ones, rip up old receiving blankets, or use cheap washcloths and what not, but I like the cute Etsy ones I find. My favourite sellers for wipes are PrettyPrintedTurtlesRUs and KBExquisites.

  • I have mini wipes from bububebe for pee and then about 10 full size wipes for poop from bububebe as well.  Love them!

  • I have a small collection of homemade wipes and purchased.  I started with Thirsties fab wipes and still like these.  I have made flannel/terry wipes and fnd they are too thick and the terry is too rough. I have a few kissaluv organic prints and these shrink a lot and are only soso.   I just made some knit/velour that I love!!!  I made 8x8 and mini-wipes like the Bububebe.  I have purchased from Bububebe velour and sherpa (which are nice too)  and Sweet baby bottoms boutique SMJAE flannel/velour wipes.  I like both.  I think some mama's like the ones from Monkey Snuggles and others pay a little more for the cute Goodmama's.  I have well over 30 now, but find 30-40 to be a good number.

  • I have Grovia, Imse Vimse and homemade from a receiving blanket. My favorites are the Grovia ones. I wish I had put terry cloth on the back of my homemade ones. Next time. I have about 30, but use only 20. I do laundry every day and sometimes every other day. The wipes go in with the diapers.

  • I would say a good amount is 24+ (you can never have too many). I think I have about 36 or so. That has been plenty for now. We wash ours right with the diapers.

My absolute favorite are Sewing Mom Just Accessories Etc. (SMJAE) but she is closing down shop. I also like quilter's nappies. Another bumpie recommended sweetbobbins on etsy - which I might try if I ever need to pick up some more.

  • I have 48, a mix of Thirsties Fab and Fuzzibunz wipes.  From what I've been told, this should be more than enough.  These brands get great reviews, but I might have tried to make my own if I had access to a sewing machine (and any skill whatsoever).
