bleach and BGs- ammonia stink. All suggestions wanted

I tried searching the board but the search function wouldn't work. I really need to bleach my diapers. They stink and my nighttime BGs are turning gray. Its gross. I looked at the BG website and it says 1/4-1/2 cup bleach. Will this ruin the color of my BGs? Should I put bleach in a downy ball? Does anyone have a better way of getting rid of ammonia stink?

Liquid dawn dish soap (blue one) works well to get rid of the stink. I actually did a hand wash in cold water with literally just a drop of dawn, scrub and rinse. Then i ran a cold rinse in washer and then the usual hot wash with extra rinse no detergent.

I would strip them. Then, once a month or so, use bleach. I haven't had any issues with the colors fading.

When you do the bleach just make sure the washer has completely filled up with water and then add the bleach about 5 minutes into the was cycle.   I bleach once a month and haven't had any of my covers fade or spot from it.

do you mean regular clorox bleach? not color safe? im having this issue too. after a few days in the pail, the stink is overwhelming. ive used color safe bleach a few times but i thought for sure regular clorox would kill the colors. they dont smell when im done washing them, just in the pail.

regular clorox bleach, 1/4 cup.  I start the water running and then hold the cup with bleach under it so it is diluted as it hits the load in the wash.  I've bleached a handful of times and never had any issues with colors.  color safe bleach is not really bleach, it doesn't kill anything.
