Sinus infection help

Hi ladies,

I am so miserable here. My chronic runny pregnancy nose has certainly turned into a horrible sinus infection. Yuck! Anyone have any remedies or anything to help?? So far only the shower has really helped and I tried sudafed & tylenol but it didn't really do anything. My doc said those are ok.  I have my next OB appointment on Monday so hopefully if its still bad she can prescribe me an antibiotic if they are ok.

Re: Sinus infection help

  • Have you ever tried a neti pot?  I get sinus infections frequently, and using a neti pot really helps.

  • I have a pretty bad sinus infection right now and had to go to my GP to get antibiotics. I don't use my OB as a regular dr and my appt with her isn't until March 25.

  • I use a sinus rinse (same family as a neti pot, but easier). It is made by neil med.

My allergist and PCP both recommended it to me.  I do it twice a day when it is allergy season for me. Right now I am fighting a sinus infection, double ear infection and bronchitis.  IT SUCKS!  I am doing my sinus rinse twice a day. It takes some getting use to...but cleans the sticky snot balls out for me! :) (sorry, that may be TMI...but it works!)

  • I also use the neti pot and it is fabulous!  It really helps!  I have been battling something lately and started doing it twice a day for the last two days, Today I feel great again!! :)   Good Luck!  Sinus issues suck!  I hope your OB can give you something!
  • I get chronic sinus infections and the neti pot as nasty as it seems works great.
  • Sinus rinses don't work for me.  I get chronic sinus infections, so my primary doc has me on Flonase.  She said I can continue using it as needed (she also used to do OB).  Steam helps, so my mom bought me a personal face/nasal steamer.  I also have a humidifier so that my sinuses don't dry up too fast.  Vaporizers work well, too.  I'm sorry you and a PP are both suffering right now.  Sinus infections are never fun...I speak from years of experience (3 to 4 per year).

  • Have you heard about nasal rinses?  They are not fun, but boy do they do the job.  It's a non-medicated saline solution so it's 100% safe to use while pregnant.  I'm a chronic sinus infection sufferer and they really do work wonders.
