I'm not a regular on this board, but I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out. I'd like to start using a diet meal delivery service, Ive been looking at Medifast and Nutrisystem.
Has anyone used a delivery service? Any reccomendations?
If you are not a foodie or a super-taster (as in- you are not picky about taste of food) then Nutrisystem is pretty good. It is color-coded and surprisingly keeps you full (even though the portions are small!)
I personally do not look at food as something amazing, but rather "this is what i need to eat to support my body" and since I used to skip breakfasts or lunches and therefore end up over-eating at dinner- This is very convenient and easy.
Its full of fiber and protein, but also high in sodium- but other than that- very reasonable nutrition-wise.
I bought my 35-day pack from Costco (you buy a gift card at a discount there and then redeem it at Nutrisystem.com) and it was only $230 for 35 days without signing up for auto-delivery (which if you cancel will be charged back to you)
Make sure you read the fine print of all these programs...
I have done nutrisystem, but it was several years ago, maybe 5+ years? At that point, the portions were very small as well, and you do have to buy a ton of food from the grocery to supplement their program. It is also hard to do when you are working because you have to eat so often. I had an okay time doing it because I was still in college when I did the program, so I had frequent breaks and could plan around eating, but I know if I tried to do it now with a new baby or even when I went back to work, that I would not be able to eat as consistently as the plan dictates. The food was okay when I ate it then, they had a pretty wide variety to choose from, some of the stuff is really gross, but if you eat it once and don't like it, you know to not order it again. Both myself and DH lost weight doing the program, but we both gained it back and then some after stopping. IMHO, I don't think it was worth the money, that if we just ate healthier foods and exercised more, we would have saved some cash and kept the weight off/lost more.
