Mylicon/gas drops - when to give?

Those of you who use them often, when do you give them? Before a feeding, after, not around feeding time?

The GI doc told us to start giving them to him regularly, but I forgot to ask how to administer them. TIA!

Re: Mylicon/gas drops - when to give?

  • with DS I put them in the bottle. I haven't used them this time yet, but since i'm BFing then I would probably give them before the feeding.

  • On the bottle we had, it said to give after the feeding so that's what we did.  They seemed to help but she doesn't need them anymore.

  • I give them to Mj after his feeding but only if he seems really fussy.

  • We give them after a feeding. DD loves the taste, and they've seemed to help with her intense gas pains, although we've only been using them for a short time.

  • The bottle comes with a dropper and for less than 2 years old, its 0.3 mls.  I give her mylicon in the evening because she is always fussy and farty in the evening.  Some people give at every feeding.  You can give whatever is necessary as long as you stay below 12 doses per day.  Since you are seeing a GI though you should probably get specific instructions from them.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...
