Cloth Diapering

if you are home, do you clean poop right away?

I was just curious what other ladies do when your lo is cranky/teething and they just pooped.  Do you put them down and wash the diaper right away, or wait for them to calm down and then wash the dipe.  I always want to wash it right away, but I will not put my lo down crying.

  • I just put it aside. I will put him down to wash my hands though, even if he is crying.

  • I clean it right away.  It doesn't take long and I have to go in the bathroom to wash my hands anyway.  DD will either get something to play with or stand at the gate and watch me and wait for me to pick her back up.

  • i usually clean it right away, but usually dd isn't crying during diaper changes

however when dh does a poop diaper change he usually sets it aside and i'll get to it later

it won't kill your diapers to wait a little while

  • I usually do it right away. I find that after she has a clean diaper on and she has a toy in hand she is not as fussy. If I had to I would wait to clean it, but like PPs said I always wash my hands so if in that time she's distracted I'll just clean off the poo too.

  • Usually I do clean it right away, but if he's super-cranky/sick I let it sit and do it later, washing my hands while he's in my arms (one at a time). DH leaves it there for me to clean about 90% of the time.
