Ultimate Crib Sheet

So I was trying to help a friend of mine last night with this - is it supposed to go over the regular sheet?  It doesn't seem like it would be that comfy to sleep on (kinda cold actually), but when you put it on, there doesn't seem to be a way to put a sheet over it.  Am I missing something?

Re: Ultimate Crib Sheet

  • it goes over the crib sheet. the idea is that if there is an accident, it's easier to remove and replce than a real crib sheet. we have two and love them. H sleeps on it with no problem, and the soft side of ours feels like a sheet. we have the summer infant brand i think.

  • DS has always slept on the Ultimate Crib Sheet, and after he turned one he has a blanket on top of it. While it's not as soft as a jersey sheet, it's worth its weight in gold for the few times we've had accident or vomit issues.

  • I have a question about this sheet. I got a few at my shower and I like the premise but our nursery is small and the crib is pushed up into a corner. I can't really reach all the way back to snap in one whole corner of the sheet. I don't know if it's just because I'm preggo right now but I'm not very tall and it seems it would be more of a hassle to snap and unsnap the thing. Does anyone else have this problem? I was going to return them and just change the regular sheet which seems easier because I can just lift the mattress out of the crib. The mattress isn't that heavy.

  • It's really up to you. I find the hassle of the snaps worth it for the super-easy cleanup, but a regular sheet over a mattress protector can also do the job, without the snaps.

  • ours is shoved in a corner too, but it's not so heavy i can't just pull it out to reach the back corner. that is easier for me than attempting to change a real sheet because our mattress is pretty jammed in there. i def can't change a real sheet without help from my DH.

  • make sure your LO is sleeping on the correct side of the sheet; DH is in charge of changing the ultimate sheet, I could do it if I wanted to before but now that we lowered the crib, it's too hard. I just make sure it's his responsibility, why should we be the only ones doing this kind of stuff:) I do tell him when it needs to be done and I am usually the one who removes the one that goes into the laundry but he always puts the new one on.
  •  Loved our ultimate crib sheets. We had two and I found them much easier than wrestling with he mattress. Plan on reusing them with #2.

It's a little easier when you're not PG.  Even when the mattress is lowered to the bottom position, you could snap the sheet on higher on the rails where it's easier for you to reach and push it down once all the snaps are in place.  The mattress in our crib fits in so tight that I would struggle to get it in and out to change the sheet, so I'm happy to struggle with 12 snaps instead.

  • Loved ours! I got 2 and it was 100% worth the snapping off and on in the wee hours of the AM dealing with vomit or a leaky diaper. We'll be reusing with #2.

One suggestion - make sure you have the snaps actually snapped in place before you wash/dry...otherwise the elastic can get caught on other articles of clothing or your washer/dryer parts and can rip off or stretch out. Learned that the hard way!
