NTR: Darn flooded basement

We got a TON of rain yesterday. DH walks down to the basement to finish the laundry and is greeted with about 1.5 - 2 inches of water throughout the ENTIRE basement. Just great! Normally I would TGIF today, but it doesn't seem like this is going to be relaxing weekend at all, and it sounds expensive.

Oh, the joys of home ownership. We just moved in this house in July, and we're not in a flood zone, or on a flood plane so we don't have flood insurance. I just really wasn't expecting this. Ugh! Just had to vent!

  • Do you have water sewer back up on your plan?  There is a good chance you do.

We moved into this house when DS was just born and our area flooded.  Not on a flood plain either.  8 inches of water.  My wedding pic and family pics were down there.  I cried for weeks.  We flooded again last year when we lost power during a big storm in the middle of the night. I laid in bed knowing the power was out and knowing that we were flooding again and there was nothing we could do.  We now have 2 sump pumps in each crock (we have two crocks) one is a battery back up, and a generator.

  • Ugh. Sorry that you are flooded! What a horrible pain!

My DH inspects flooded basements, as well as other things, and boy he is BUSY right now (great timing.....).

Hope that everything cleans up okay and you can stop the intake!
