intro...and inova birthing center question...

Hi everyone...I have been hanging out on the sofl and trimester boards, but I am planning to have my baby in NOVA...i moved two years ago for my job and have been dying to come home since..

anyway, i really like the concept of the Leesburg Inova birthing center esp. the part where they have the tubs in the room for pain management, plus all the high tech hosp. stuff...but was unclear about if any other locals have similar facilities...We have a house in Reston which we arent currently living in but might move back so it could work if we do live there, but my MIL lives in Falls church and we might be living with her temporarly too, so depending on the time of day I go into labor it seems like that could be a little risky with traffic....

does anyone know of a similar facility closer to dc proper?

    There is a birthing center in Alexandria as well.  That would be closer to Falls Church.  It's not INOVA though - although I know my insurance does cover it.  I would check with your practice though  - hospital privelages vary widely.

    Ditto PP - check with your practice. Most seem to be bound to one hospital or another, so if you like your doc, you have to go where they deliver. I delivered at Reston last time, and recall that they had private L&D rooms as well as private postpartum, which was very nice. I did not get an L&D room with a tub, as not all of theirs have them, but I was too wired/IVd up to have used one anyway.

    This time I'll be delivering at the Loudoun Birthing Inn and I'm hoping for a more peaceful experience, but you never know. I'm not really familiar with any of the facilities in DC.

    FYI, in Falls Church you are probably closest to Inova Fairfax. A lot of the ladies on this board have delivered there and can probably give feedback.

    hi ladies, thanks for the info, i will google the one in alexandria...though if anyone knows the name that would be helpful..  i only have a gp there, so I was going to find a dr based on the facility i decided on...though just a note, was diagonosed with threatened mc today, so all of this might be in vain. :-(
