Birth Control

Hey ladies,

 Did any of you get pregnant within the first month of being off birth control? I've heard from some people that when you get off birth control you have a very fertile period of time. Did you take your test when you would supposedly get your AF?

 

Also for those of you who have been of bc did your period come right away and stay on a typical schedule or was it all over the place for the first few months? I'm sure it's different for everyone but I was just curious about your stories.

I got PG the first time right off of Nuvaring, I didn't wait to get a "normal" period, just didn't start a new month. I was also charting, but I took a test the day before I was supposed to get my period (based on last 28 day cycle) and it was positive.

I got pregnant my second cycle off of the pill.  I was on Ocella (generic Yasmin), but have pretty much been on the pill for 10 years.  My cycles were always regular before I went on, and my first cycle off was 27 days.  I got my BFP 13dpo this cycle, which was 4 days before my period was due.

I was on Ocella as well, but only for a month. I was at a point where I was trying out different bcs because I was beginning to get adverse effects from the Avian I was on. I was switched to another bc for 2 months and got the worst cramps and very heavy periods so I was switched to Ocella. I stopped taking them mid pack and got AF 4 days after stopping the pill. It lasted 3.5 days very heavy for the most part. We've been having sex every other day since because I had no idea when I'd O. I've been having a few symptoms but I have no idea when AF is supposed to come so I'm kind of going crazy on when I should test. I've already tested a couple times but got BFN. For now I'm basing my AF to happen around the 16th again, but I heard sometimes AF comes later by a few days after stopping bc.

 It's just so hard to wait!! I have two tests just sitting on my dining room table and I'm trying to wait again until the 16th. Or at the very least this Sat or Sun!

I was on seasonique (pill) and I got pg the month I stopped taking it. I took the test after I should have gotten AF. and got my BFP!

With my DS, I got pregnant my first month off BC. I just tested when I thought I would get AF. I usually had 30 day cycles when on BC, so I tested when I thought it would be about time and it ended up being positive. I was taking Ortho Tricyclen Lo at the time.

I was on the pill for 2 1/2 years and my first month off my period was expected on Wednesday and showed up on Saturday.  My next cycle I got a BFP 3 days before I expected to start. 

My first month off as I said I was late so if you take test and its negative wait a week bc you might ovulate later while your body is adjusting to the change in hormones.

I was off my bc since October and we didnt get pg until Feb. My nurse practitioner said that the pills today are not like they use to be and that your body weens off them after one cyle. But she couldnt explain why it took me so many cycles(just bad timing I guess) for me though.

I needed 4 cycles to get pregnant - really that's pretty fast, but with all the PPs saying it only took 1 cycle I wanted to make sure you know that that's not necessarily normal! Of course you shouldn't stop BC until you're ready to get pregnant because it could happen the 1st cycle, but don't be crushed if it doesn't. Before BC my cycles were between 30-35 days (long LPs) and after BC I had 2 normal-for-me cycles, then one really strange 48-day one which ended in spotting but no real period, and that was the start of the cycle I got my BFP.

Yeah I know it's not the "normal" thing to happen, that most women have to wait a few cycles. But I was just curious about how many have gotten pregnant within that first cycle. 

Is it sad that I have no confirmation yet if I am pregnant or not and am still going forum happy with things? lol I can't imagine if this takes months or years!

I stopped my BCP on Dec 18th, got a BFP on Feb 6th :-)  I was on BCP for 13 years. It took 21 days to start my period after Dec18th, and I only had one period. GL!

I finished my last pack of BCP end of September, had one REALLY long first cycle, one sort of long second cycle, and the third cycle finally normalized (we didn't really starting TTC until the third cycle, and we got pregnant that cycle).  I was on the pill for 10 years, and like most people was shocked to find out how much havoc it can have on your body when you finally want to go off of it and return to normal cycling. I won't be going on it again!
