Weekly Weigh In

Hello ladies! It's Thursday which is weigh in day!

How did everyone do this week? Any non-scale victories? Any rough patches?

QOTW: What vegetable that isn't on every menu do you love? Everywhere you go has the basics like broccoli and some sort of potato. But if you want to mix it up what are some that you like to prepare at home or that you would like to see more of at restaurants?

Re: Weekly Weigh In

  • Down a pound. I feel like the little engine that could or the tortoise racing the hare. I have no impressive losses but I have consistent losses so I just keep chugging along slow and steady. It beats gaining. And both those stories ended well, right?

I love, love, love Brussel Sprouts. Always have. Thankfully DH and DD like them as well so they make pretty frequent appearances at our table.

  • I'm down half a pound.  Better than I expected for the way I've been eating this week.

I'm really into kale lately.  Spicy kale is pretty awesome.

  • Shockingly I am down .6 pounds, inching closer to the 30lb mark.  I really didn't expect to lose this week.  I have been indulging in birthday cake and other treats.  I ran my first 10K race on Saturday and beat my goal time by almost 6 minutes.  This morning when I was getting dressed, I noticed my "love handles" have gone down significantly and that made me feel good.  I also tried on a pair of pants I haven't been able to wear since before Logan was born and they fit.  They were a little tight, but they fit!

QOTW: I have always loved peas and green beans.  I also like baked sweet potatoes.

    Good luck everyone!

  • has it already been a week?! I guess this goes to show me how fast a week can go and what damage can be done if I'm not paying attention. I'm up 2 lbs this week sadly. I ate out almost the entire week due to being out of town and then I'm snacking horribly at home. I'm not eating terrible things at home necessarily but I can't get control of the portions or amounts. I suppose one small stride was I didn't buy any coke at the store this week which I had been having like two a day. I love asparagus but DH doesn't so if I to get it I have to eat the whole batch or it goes to waste. how do you make spicy kale? DH might like that.

  • I just wilted the kale in a pot with some (a couple tbsp) apple cider vinegar, some salt, and then a couple tbsp of sriracha hot sauce.  I ate the entire bunch of kale.

Hooray for you! That must be such a great feeling of accomplishment (the race AND the pants)

  • I am really struggling these days.  I have lost 2.5 lbs in the past two weeks, but that's really because I was so sick with the stomach virus making the rounds and was eating very little.

DH and I really need to get back into this, big time.  It's starting to weigh on me as a parent, because I want to be a good example and be able to keep up with my kids, but I can't seem to make my conscience have control over my cravings and boredom.

The biggest thing I'm struggling with right now is how to cook for my family, WW-style.  I have a handful of things that I'm comfortable making for dinner that my family likes, but they are really not WW-friendly.  I'm not really good at trying new things or surfing websites for new ideas.  I'm just not that comfortable in the kitchen.

And I realize this was nothing more than a whiny vent, but I don't really have much more to say about it at the moment.

  • I am down 2.8 from last week for a total of 19.4. I am also another notch smaller on my belt! ;)

As for favorite veggies, I've been loving cabbage lately. I like to stir fry it with chicken broth, some amino drops (soy sauce alternative) and garlic powder. Also love zucchini saut?ed with onions and peppers. Yum!

  • I have not lost anything this week. I gained a couple. We ate out every day for 10 days in a row between my brother's birthday, remodeling our hall bath, Audrey's birthday, DH's grandma's birthday, and BIL being in town.

I love asparagus but DH does not. I make it sometimes at home roasted with evoo, salt and pepper. I also love spinach but DH doesn't eat "leaves". Oh yeah, also summer squash and zucchini but again, DH doesn't eat those either. (me.. bitter? NOO)

Have you tried sparkrecipes.com?  I haven't looked on there too much, but I know that they are weight conscious.

I was whiny today too Stick out tongue

Our DH's must be twins.  My DH won't even in eat peas for the love of God.  He also doesn't like dark green leaves, mostly just iceburg which has like zero vitamins.

Mine eats peas, lima beans!!!, green beans, broccoli and cauliflower but not any greens at all, even iceburg. He also does not eat any vegetables raw.

  • I'm only down a net of 1 lb in the past 2 weeks.  I've had 2 stomach bugs in that time and haven't really been watching what I'm eating.  When I don't feel well, I eat whatever sounds good since I eat so infrequently.

As for veggies, I made a strange discovery.  I love love love mashed potatoes so I've been doing a combo of mashed potatoes and cauliflower.  Recently I discovered that adding celery root counters the taste of the cauliflower and makes the taste and texture more like just potatoes but the cauliflower still gives them the buttery flavor without adding butter.  It's become one of our new favorites.

  • Down 0.8 this week.

I love lima beans.  I almost never get them out.  Luckily DH loves them too, so I make them at home.

  • I stayed the same, which I expected after my 4 lb loss last week. I love Brussels sprouts too, and kale.
