Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Sunscreen?

With the weather ever so slightly starting to warm up here, I've started thinking about long walks and visits to the park with DD....

What sunscreens do you all recommend? I want something chemical free (of course) and have heard good things about Burt's Bees, SPF 30. Just looking for furthers suggestions / recommendations...

 Thanks in advance!

Re: Sunscreen?

  • I think California baby makes some that is chemical free.  They also have a pretty good bug repellant. You can find it Target or Amazon.

  • I need to ask my pedi.  I've read that you shouldn't use sunscreen until they are 6 months old, just keep them covered up.  That said, when we do start using sunscreen we are probably just going to use the highest spf baby specific sunscreen we can find.  I live in high elevation SW and SPF 30 just doesn't cut it.  I wear SPF 70 and still tan.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • I was told no sunscreen/sunblock till 6 months. I am going to ask about it at her 6 month check-up.
  • I will probably use Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby.

  • I've been told by several people that anything over SPF 30 doesn't actually give you any added protection.  We're still a little ways out from warm weather, but I've been meaning to look into it.
