Also try local stores. I am in Atlanta and I never knew there was a store called New Baby Products but now that my friends are having kids, I've been there to get gifts for their showers and it is great. They have way more specialty products and unique stuff and the staff is really friendly. It was cheaper than BRU, too. The only thing is if you have a lot of friends and family that live out of town, they can't order online from a local store. Also, the local store might not have all the basics. Still, something to check out
Target is known for having horrible registry issues - high merchandise turnover, stuff not available on shelves, craptastic return policies.Obviously the upside is that it's available in most markets and online.
Amazon is great if you have web-savvy gift-givers.

No we're near Seattle, and I don't see anything listed near us
I think I might stick with Target. I started a BRU reg but am giving it second thoughts now. My family lives 2000 miles away, and I know they want to buy stuff for baby, but I think Target is always pretty reliable. We did our wedding reg through them, too. I think a BuyBuyBaby is opening here eventually, not sure if that will be in time.

Well, my takeaway from that post wasn't "don't register at BRU," it was "don't create your entire registry ONLINE if you want your guests to be able to buy items at the brick and mortar store." I'll be doing my registry in person anyway, so that's not really an issue for me.
That being said, I really like Buy Buy Baby and if I had one closer, I'd register there instead. I think I'm going to register on Amazon.com and then BRU or JCP so that people have a brick and mortar option.
Buy Buy Baby was fantastic for us and our families. No problems at all with returns. You don't even need a receipt! Target was a horrible mess. Returns were difficult. Not one person (including the store manager) had ever heard of the completion coupon to finish off your registry. Went to 3 different Targets and it was the same at all of them. I got stuck with multiples because they messed up on their part and not everyone gave gift receipts. I've had a few friends go through Babies R Us with no problems too. Their return policy is great too.
Never had issues with BRU, I also know that if it isn''t in the store you can order it online and have it shipped to the store if you have issues. Also Buy Buy Baby is another that is good. I think those are the 2 best. Target is fine, but it doesn;t have as many selections as you would if you went to a baby store. TMI, good luck have fun!!

I'm near Seattle too and I registered at the Lynnwood BRU and had a great experience. However the reason the other poster thought it sucked was becuase she registered online. Go to the store and register and don't do it super early, do it like 3 weeks to a month before your shower. Inventory changes with the seasons so you don't want to register now and have half the stuff gone by your shower. I would never reccommend registering online if you think your guests will shop in the store. It's never the same stuff exactly.
