Sorry I wasn't able to get online last night to update, but the surgery started very late and I didn't get home until really late. And for some reason my iphone will not bring up the keyboard to let me post on TB.
He made it through the surgery, but he has quite a recovery ahead of him. The surgery started at 5pm and went to 8pm. The dr said he was "satisfied" with how it went, but we'll have to see if it helps. He had zero personality and really didn't give us a lot to go on. I guess time will tell.
I got to see my dad for a few minutes in recovery, he was still groggy, but could talk to us. He said "I guess I'm still alive". Once we left we heard he was telling the nurses in recovery about wanting to live for his 50th anniversary - so I guess he knew what was going on.
He got to his room and we saw him briefly again, but he was in pain and we couldn't really talk to him. My mom stayed a little longer and she said he got his pain meds and was doing a little better. She is getting ready to go to the hospital to see him this morning.
Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers. I appreciate them so much - as does my entire family.

I'm going to continue to pray for a fast recovery and for the surgery to be a success... those surgeons are never known for their bedside manners- I think that's why they become surgeons! Don't have to be nice to people if they're unconscious.!

Glad the surgery went well! I hope his recovery goes as well and quickly as possible (((hugs)))
So glad to hear the good news. I hope his recovery goes well too.
Thanks ladies!!! Your thoughts and prayers mean so much.
His left leg seems to be improving (the toe) and that is great. But, the toes on his right leg are looking worse (that is the side they took the vein from). Although, his kidney dr. said that they only took a vein and that the artery is what could be clogged.
So the doctors will be consulting more tomorrow. Hopefully, they will be able to treat his other leg. Continued thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
