I always refer to this site with sick kiddos. Here is the page on diarrhea. The typical recommendation is a BRAT diet - bananas, rice, applesauce, toast - but only if they feel like eating
With diarrhea you need to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated. Try the BRAT diet but if he still won't eat give him chicken broth and/or pedialite to make sure he has plenty of fluids.
I've read that studies show the BRAT diet doesn't help and that you can really feed them anything. That said, I know if my stomach hurts I don't want to eat much of anything and some toast and applesauce suits me fine. Toss some chicken noodle soup and jello in the brat list and that'll keep me going for a whole illness. So I would probably feed mine just about anything except prunes - I basically wouldn't deny them any healthy food they wanted.
To replace the good bacteria in their stomach get a probiotic from your pharmacist. Florastor comes to mind, but they recommended something else (the name escapes me for my lo when he had the bug. He was back to himself within 12 hours from taking it.
