3rd Trimester

Nair?

Does anyone use Nair on their bikini area?  I can no longer see to trim down there, and it's a seriously dangerous prospect to "blindly" do it, since I have a lovely varicose vein on my lady parts (lucky, I know.).  Waxing is out because of the vein, and my husband is too nervous to help me shave.  So, please, talk to me about depilatory creams, ladies! :)
I don't know what's up with my siggy and I am too lazy to figure it out.

Re: Nair?

  • I had the same idea! However my MW (and pharmacist) said no due to chemicals that could be absorbed from it (coupled with my skin being more sensitive). Sad

  • It was on my "no" list from my OB, but I have heard of women using it during pregnancy. Not sure I would, but I'm also a little leery of chemical hair removers in the first place.

  • Like PP's I've heard this is a no go.

  • I veet and my OB has approved it.
  • I used Nair in the bikini area once and ended up with a UTI.  I'm not sure if it was a result of using the Nair but the UTI occured w/in 24 hrs after use.  I wouldn't take any chances...

  • I'm allergic to Nair and won't use it anyway, but it doesn't seem smart to use it while pg especially on your lady parts! I'd definitely ask your dr before you do it.

  • it's on the no-no list from my practice too. The chemicals are too harsh.  Try just trimming with an electric razor with a guard- much safer than going in with a regular razor!!!

  • I used Nair "down there" once before I was pregnant and I bled out of my pores afterward. Creepy! Haven't used it on anything since. I have used GiGi brand hair removal cream and it was much milder, but as a result did not remove the hair as well. Again, this was all before I was pregnant. As for now, there's only a few weeks left, so I'm just toughing out the overgrowth. Wink

  • my dr. gave me the okay on Nair. I'm on a blood thinner and therefore can't use a razor to shave b/c if i accidentally cut myself it would not be good. I have not used it on my lady parts as I'm too nervous to use it down there. However, I don't really know why you couldn't use it there.

  • i used both nair and veet with both pregnancies and the doc OK'ed it. However not on my privates at all. I would use an electric shaver on that and use the veet on the legs

  • I tried Nair once on my legs and had a horrible reaction. It took a week to clear up the rash. If you decide to try it I would test it somewhere less sensitive first.

  • My ob said nair/veet was totally fine. I used veet and would recommend against it because since i couldn't see down there i burned the crap out of my lady bits. if you could get someone to help you, then i might consider it.
