Pain on one side?

I have a sharpish pain on one side that has been pretty constant all day. Not horrible, but somewhat uncomfortable. Sometimes I feel in front, sometimes in back. From the research I've done it would be too early to be feeling pain if it were and eptopic pregnancy (everything says it wouldn't be noticeable till at least 6 weeks).  also read it could be a cyst that develops on the ovary that can be painful but not harmful. I'll call the OB tomorrow, just wondering if anyone has or is having this and has any insight.

Re: Pain on one side?

  • Not sure what it is, but smart move calling your OB. That would be my suggestion.

  • It is most likely your corpus luteum which is what develops from a ovarian follicle. It is what produces progesterone which helps maintain a healthy pregnancy. Eventually the placenta will form and will take over this job. If it is that, the pain should go away soon.
  • I just went through this and still kinda am. I have my good days though when I dont feel it at all. Anyway I ended up going to the er and they said it was a cyst on my ovary about 4 cm's big. It was liquid filled(which is good) and the doc said these kind of cysts are benign and usually go down on their own. That might be what it is. Its not my corpus luteal cyst that supports the pregnancy until the placenta takes over but a different cyst. Corpus luteal cysts usually dont get that big from my understanding. Anyway about 1 in 1000 women get cysts when they are pregnant and my doc said they are common. I trust my doc so Im okay with it. Hes not worried about it. It kinda sounds like that is what it could be but Im not a doctor. I hope this gave you a little bit of insight. Oh they also did an ultrasound on me at 5w5d and they could see the pregnancy was in the uterus. How far along are you and when is your next doc appt?

  • Thanks ladies, you are making me feel much better! My first appointment wasn't until 8 weeks so I called my OB today and they want me to come in for blood work today and again in a few days. Once my levels reach 2000 they will do an ultrasound and see if they can confirm it is not eptopic. The nurse also said it is more likely a cyst on my ovary so I am praying that is what it is. Sounds like a lot of people have this, but I guess it's always better to be on the safe side!
  • I had this same thing last week! I was sent to the ER since my OB was not in.  The ER Dr. told me it was to early for tubal pain and that pain from a tubal is intense and usually does not go away.  They also checked my ovary and did not see anything because he said cysts are very common.  I know its easier said than done but try not to worry to much.  Good Luck:)

  • I had very bad pain around 5wks on my right side. I Went to the ER baby was fine and where it was suppose to be.  The ultrasound tech told me most likely bowel!  Once I knew the baby was fine. I drank some prune juice for the next few days and the pain fianlly went away.  Your body is changing and if your taking your prenatels it could be a combination of things.  I wouldnt worry too much.

    Good luck
