DS's preschool just had an outbreak as well! I have never had lice... the only thing I really know about lice is that the nurses used to have us line up and check our heads with long Q-tips...
When I got the note that DS's school had a prob, I swear I tried to look through his hair like 5 times and I was terrified that he had it and I didn't see it (b/c I wasn't really totally sure what I was looking for!). I googled it... watched a video and almost gagged. EEEEWWWW! I have a bug phobia so it almost put me over the edge... I did check again and still didn't see anything, but everytime I think about it, my head feels creepy crawly too. EEEEKKKK!!
Because this is the 3rd outbreak at the kids' daycare in like a month or two, and my head is feeling crawly all of a sudden...
I had it a few times in elementary school... long, clean blonde hair seemed to be a favorite for lice then. I remember there was a girl who ALWAYS had lice and somehow it spread around our entire class. After I got it twice, my mom started french braiding or putting my hair in a ponytail, then misting it all with a little bit of hairspray. It definitely worked and I kept my stuff as far away from her's as I could.
If you feel kinda off... maybe have DH take a look. Definitely better safe than sorry and you can catch it before they multiply.
yes and it was HORRIBLE!! I have THICK hair...like enough hair on my head for 3 people. My mom is a teacher and she must have brought it home and gave it to me...I was a freshman in highschool at the time....completely embarrassing! SO she gets the shampoo for both of us, it took two applications in mine to get it through everything...and I just can remember rinsing my hair and the bugs...HUNDREDS of bugs going down the drain. And I'd rinse and rinse and more bugs would come out...it was HORRIBLE.....and that wasn't the end of it....then the comb...I can't remember HOW long it took but we had to use the comb for a few days, and my hair and head hurt for a long time after that.
I pray my kids never get lice. Taylor has thick hair like mine...luckily she likes to keep her hair short. Audrey's isn't as thick, but its LONG. Mitch...ehh, I guess if I had to pick one kid to get lice, it would be him. (is that evil???) I have no problem with shaving his head to get rid of the lice if it he ever got them.
