I haven't introduced peanut butter to DD 1 yet. I want to, but I've been scared. I'm not sure why I've been so scared to give it to her, she is not really high risk for an allergy. No family history and she doesn't have any food allergies, yet. Anyway, Im thinking of giving it to her tomorrow, as DH will be home, just in case. My question is, should I give her a little bit or just dive in with a p-nut better and jelly sandwich? What do you think? Sorry for such a dumb question. LOL
Re: Peanut butter question
Its actually the second time you have to worry about it.
Just give her a taste and see how it goes.
Ca won't eat it anyway lol

I think waiting for peanut butter will be one of the hardest things for me. DH and I *LOVE* peanut butter. BUT. His mom is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and chocolate. My mom is deathly allergic to tree nuts but not peanuts (since it's a legume). I'm going to ask about an allergy test when he gets closer to a year.
I'd go with a pb&j. Yum.
2011 Reading Challenge
This is actually a pretty good idea if you're nervous about it. When older kids/adults are doing food challenges, they have to first smell the food, then wait 20-30 minutes to see if there is a reaction. Then, they put a bit on the skin, wait again, then a bit in their mouth - but spit it out, and lastly, actually eat it.
It isn't guaranteed to trigger a reaction if the person't not super allergic, but, if someone was going to have a bad reaction, this *might* trigger it (DS would be guaranteed an anaphylactic reaction with his throat closing if he even touched something that someone who touched peanut butter had touched, so had we tested him this way, this definitely would have shown us a reaction).
