Alt spelling for Maxim

Okay, the people have spoken.  Everyone thinks of the magazine Maxim when I mentioned our chosen boy name. (Pronounced max-EEM)  We don't want to go with the Russian spelling Maksim, though, because we want his NN to be Max rather than Mack or Mak.

 How would you spell max-EEM?

My vote is for Maxxim or the traditional Maksim

 

I think you could still spell his nn "Max" even if the 'x' isn't in his given name. My friend's nn is "Niki" which is certainly different than Nicole.

I would think of the magazine no matter how it's spelled, based on the pronunciation. I really would not use an alternate spelling in an attempt to avoid this. If the magazine association is a dealbreaker, I'd say you should probably just pick another name... Sorry. :-(

I wouldn't but its your child....if I HAD to pick one it would be Maxime... but then I look at it and sai it's one letter (one very close letter) to being Maxine.

 Why would you want to give your child a messed-up spelling of a great name? I find that completely ridiculous and a bad thing to do to your kid.

I say go with Maksim, and still do Max/Maks as a nickname.  Jack is a nickname for John, but it's not anywhere in the spelling of the name.

Maxim was a name that we had on our list (totally not even thinking about the magazine), but once I realized why the name sounded familiar.....I told my SO that I would only go for it if we changed it to Maximo.

This. Even if you spell it Maksim you can still use Max or Maks as the nn.

Maxime = pronounced "Mack-sim-ay?" Because no way is that the same name as Maksim.

Maxsim = ugh. Also, it looks like Maxism, which looks like Marxism.

Maxem = is very ugly. Max 'em Wax 'em robots!

Maksym = so Maksim is wrong but add an Y and suddenly you like it? No.

Maksym just because that's how it's spelled in Polish and to me the name is Polish, not Russian. His nn would be Maks. But my second choice would be Maxim, nn Max.

Changing the spelling isn't going to change the name itself or change what people think of when they hear it. All of your spellings are awful. Especially Maxime (Max-seem, like Maxine) and Maxsym (vom). Sorry, but it's true.

Maxime is the only one I'd go for from your list of alternatives. The others are terrible, and none help the pronunciation issue at all (except for Maxime). 

My order of preference is: Maksim, Maxim, Maxime, then pick an other name.
I think you can use Maksim and still call him Max, by the way.
