Parenting after 35

NPR: Need WW encouragement. Warning whining inside.

Ugh - I am doing okay on the diet but it is so up and down.  If I stick to the WW or Healthy Choice frozen food for lunch and dinner I am fine but DH loves to go out to eat and I just hate it now.  All I see are the foods I CAN'T eat or if given notice I starve myself (like today) so that I have enough points for a "good" meal tonight. Oh and let's not forget the alcohol!

I have lost more than ten pounds but no one has noticed yet. :(

On a happy note I fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans! Of course those WERE my fat jeans but a least I can feel the difference.

Can you turn into a rabbit from eating too many raw carrots?? :)

  • Hang in there. Just keep your eye on the prize. I know how you feel. I have lost about 10 lbs in the last month but today all I can think about are Reeses.

  • 10 pounds? You are doing GREAT!!

I know it's hard. I've lost almost 14 lbs and they only person to say anything about it has been my husband. It probably doesn't help that I'm wearing all of my old clothes and they are just kind of big...esp my jeans.

I still have a  LONG way to go.

I've found several places that I can go for lunch/dinner and we normally pick from those places. DH is also doing WW now which does make it easier, although he has A LOT more points than I do so he can still eat things that I can't. Usually during the week we cook at home and I have some a Smart Ones etc for lunch. I always start the day with a plan! :)

    Keep up the good work.

  • Yay for fitting into pre-preg jeans! That alone should give you some encouragement.
  • Congrats, 10 lbs is great!  I'm not doing WW but trying to track my calories and feel your pain on the alcohol, chocolate and going out to eat.  I can't believe I'm not fatter than I am.  It's a struggle keeping it under control.
  • 10 pounds!  Woo!  Almost halfway!  I'm sure if I saw you I would notice!  It's hard to tell when you see people every day.

Right on for the jeans!  Yay!

  • Hang in there, you can do it. 10 lbs is great!!
  • I have found that people are hesitant to say something even when they notice. Think about it: what if you've been ill and that's why you've lost weight? Nobody wants to start that conversation. People really started commenting to me when I hit the 20 pound mark. Some people have only said something recently and I'm on maintenance at 35 pounds and have been since December 1. Hang in there. This is for you not what others think of you.
  • First of all congratualtions!!! 10+ lbs is great!    The eating out part is soooo hard. Just let DH know that ok we can go out but I need to eat healthy and here is where we need to go. Have what you want to eat picked out before you even get there, that way you aren't tempted.

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks everyone! This was just the encouragement I needed. You guys make really good points:

    • 10 lbs is good!
    • I am doing this for me
    • Plan ahead when eating out

I did end up eating out last night and had a very small meal - which was satisfying and I did not feel deprived.
