Cravings....

I have had cravings before, i.e PMS cravings, but never fully grasped what pregnancy cravings would be like until now!! I have complete food aversions to almost everything until I am hungry and then it is like a lightbulb goes off and I have to have "x".

I used to be great about bringing leftovers to work for lunch or just packing a lunch in general, for the past week that has not been the case. I just have to wait until I get hungry and go grab whatever I am craving...today it is a fish sandwich and baked potato from Wendy's (conviently located next to my work).

Anyone else is the same situation? Or what is your pregnancy doing to your appetite or meal plans?

  • for the most part.. no food sounds good to me. i can even turn down ice cream without thinking twice ( i LOVE ice cream). however, i want sweet potato fries and ranch 24/7.

  • I don't really have a huge appetite, so I don't get cravings that often. But, after reading something in the GTKY post, I want peanut butter ice cream or frozen yogurt!

  • I know this post is about food but to be honest all I have been craving lately is more sleep!!

  • This morning I was so nauseated. I was gagging at the thought of my prenatal vitamin and dry heaving while forcing myself to eat toast for breakfast.

    Right now all I can think about are dill pickles and Ben&Jerrys ice cream. Not together of course. Wink

  • I have been craving artichokes and asparagus!! Up until 2 weeks ago, I'd only had an artichoke one other time in my life. So odd! Also craving salads but only with boatloads of ranch! And no, I can't say I've ever had vegetable cravings in the past. Today at lunch I ate not one, not two but THREE tortillas dipped in queso! No "real" food!

  • In my last pregnancy I didn't have any cravings till my 2nd tri- then they hit HARD!  however right now i wouldn't turn down some sweet potatoes with brown sugar from boston market.

  • Nothing sounds good to me, I wish I had cravings. I think about things to eat & everything sounds gross. Once I decide on something, it tastes okay while I'm eating it but afterwards I wish I hadn't. It's a vicious cycle!
  • With my first pregnancy, I craved citrus fruit. With #2, HOT and spicy food and lots of salty stuff. With this pregnancy, I seem to like sugar which is NOT GOOD! I can't get enough Nutella (hazelnut spread)--which has caffeine too and it freaks me out!! But I'm trying to curb that with my craving, also, for orange juice and eggs (any type of eggs...)! So funny what your body 'asks' for when your prego!
