I just read your weekly check in post re: BM through TSA ... I have never tried to go through TSA with the ice bags, I always dump the ice bags and then get new ice (I bring extra ziplocks) right after I make it through security.

HTH!
They made us dump the ice because it's technically "liquid", a pain but true. They did allow us to bring the blue hard ice packs though, so once we figured that out, it was easier than bringing ice and dumping it and having to fill up again. The blue ice things worked great! Make sure to declare it to them before you go through the scanner because then they are nicer about it. Once I forgot and they were really rude. They were greatful that I pointed out my breastpump too.

YMMV!!! for sure, so if anyone is considering this be careful and have a back up plan!
I only attempted taking blue ice once and it didn't go so great. I had to toss it b/c it wasn't fully frozen, wasn't given the option to have it tested or anything. I probably should have pushed back a little but I was running late and didn't want to cause more problems at TSA. Duh, that it wouldn't still be fully frozen - I checked out of my hotel in the morning, had meetings all day and then went to the airport.
Thanks ladies! I'm just doing the ice cubes in a ziploc...I don't want to deal with trying to get ice packs through too. According to TSA the hard-frozen (not gel-type) ones are allowed. But seeing as many rank-and-file TSA agents don't even know that a mama can bring milk through w/out her baby, I don't want to press my luck!
