So far, about half of respondents to my poll (below) use Gmail and this surprises me. I figured Yahoo and Hotmail would be the top services. I'd be interested in knowing why you chose Gmail over other options!

I didn't see your poll below, but I also use Gmail.

It is so nice, it never really deletes any emails, and you can search your emails very easily.  Also, the chat function is very smooth.  I love gmail, but I am also a big google user, so maybe that is why I like it so much.

Simply because I love anything  Google. I love them as a company, their culture and everything they come out with is amazing. Their search function within their email is awesome!

I love gmail.  I like the chat function, how you can star emails and give them multiple labels, its easy search function and its storage capacity.  I also like how it keeps all replies to an email together in a chain for easy reference.

I use gmail and love it. It sorts out spam on it's own, is easy to get to and figure out and it links up with googlechat which is fun too

I like the storage capacity, how easy it is to organize with different labels and search for subjects and key words.  The chat is fun too but I rarely use it.  I don't get a lot of spam or popups.

I love that it keeps all of your conversations together- like when you email back and forth with people.  And I like how I can message people who are also logged into gmail.

Good spam filter, great chat function, email sorting options, email folders are searchable.

I used to have a yahoo account and got a metric sh!t-ton of spam every day (that was long ago- maybe it's better now). With gmail almost no spam makes it to my inbox.

I also missed the poll. I switched over to Gmail, mainly because it is the best. You can have G-chat which is basically IM'ing. They also keep all the emails stacked into one email so it doesn't clog your inbox.
